Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure commented the attack made him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
